Changed my mind again I feel the 206cc looks too much like a Hairdressers car so i think I will be getting a Mini again especially since I sold my car today

My sister has the 206 CC 2.0 and it's alright if you're a girl.

My g/f has the Cooper and I don't feel ashamed to borrow it now and again. It's a good drive as well - drives on the point if you know what I mean.

Have to agree with the 17" alloys - a definite no no - way too stiff.

OH YES! And intent on proving it too! :-)

Tell it to all the people that live around me cos BMW couldn't piss in a pot if their lives depended on it.

BMW is but one example, I make no claims for them, YOU are the the person with the claims, so.....BACK THEM UP, or shut up.

Cos of the German tw*ts at BMW mucking about with the British car industry, workers at Rover and many many many suppliers last their jobs.

Rover workers are out of jobs because even with the help of other countries WE still couldn't compete with other manufacturers.

Because they sold out Range Rover, their American. Their suppliers have been shafted too and even more jobs have been lost.

Oh dear! And that was obviously a personal loss to YOU huh? The name at least remains, which is more than can be said if the factory had just closed like it would have WITHOUT a buyer.

So if you want to drive round in a car that cost 50 000 people in the UK their jobs then go for it.

The British Gov and the British motor industries failure to adapt to the marketplace or offer ANY interesting models that had even a HOPE of competing with better priced, better equipt foreign cars.

And the same view would be taken by a few people in Spain (VW - Seat), Crewe (VW - Daimler & Rolls Royce), and a few more I could mention.

Mention away ! But make sure you realise that Seat owned by FIAT, D'uh! Like many other companies FSO, Polski Fiat etc, were part of FIAT's policy of starting factories in underdeveloped countries and allowing their gov'nt to buy them out. Rolls Royce cost the British tax payer MILLIONS each year because we refused to give up what we saw as the last REAL British motor manufacturer, good eh? the misplaced pride of people like you that know nothing about the subject cost us MILLIONS, so.....mibbe we should all just blame YOU for the state or lack of British cars on the market, eh? that would make so much more sence than YOUR statement!

    I won't buy German....if you don't like me for it I don't give a sh*t , but don't dismiss me cos I won't take a German **** up my ***

Could we have that without the swearing please? The use of such only helps us see your obvious lack of grip on the English dialect. My son could say @rse when he was 3.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, so........ slagging off BMW for saving what was left of a tattered and totally uncompetative British motor industry that had been on it's last legs for years is your only defence of your pathetic and (you've now proven!) unsubstanciated emmmmmmm, comment? That's the best you can do? second hand biggoted misinformation about a subject you are intent to prove you know little or NOTHING about? Don't buy a BMW if it annoys you so much! Maybe you should direct your misguided anger at the real culprits? Or maybe you should just bite your tongue in future till you get your facts right? Either way, DON'T post rubbish like that in someone elses thread UNLESS you have something a LOT more useful to say, or can at least PRETEND to know what your talking about, let alone prove it, or........ I'll delete your rantings every time. Now........if you REALLY wish to convince me your NOT the fool your prortraying yourself as here, or, if you have anything more to say on the subject, start your OWN thread on, lets see, " 10 reasons why brumbino thinks we should boycot German cars" , something like that? I'll be perfectly happy to read your opinions there, but....... not here, your post did NOTHING for this thread and your reply does even less, so, leave this thread alone and let me see YOUR thread. Thank you.

I can tell you that the new mini cooper can hit 0-60 in just under 9 secs. the are nippy b@stards and go like sh1t off a shuvel. if you put a superchip in it you would be like....unbeatable. are you the sort of person that would put ice in it and put a full Bk on it?

Damn they don't make cars like they used to, mines 22 years old and does 0-60 in 7 secs.

And your right m8 the pug is a girls car, you can't look cool in it if you tried , you may as well buy an MR2 or an MGF and take up night classes in hairdressing, and lets not even mention MX5's

Oy, I took enough of that nonsense at work when I 1st got my car! That said its on a 3 year deal and I can't wait to give it back the payments are killing me. Not the finance, tyres & petrol goes round corners a treat (at least gimme that much)

I much prefer classics now and have travelled (far!) to see 3 jensen interceptors (6.8 or 7.2 v8 proper big block mmmmmm...) but I'll probably look into the cash situation & end up with a diesel running on veg oil for money reasons : (not really)

I saw a 1972 7.2 v8 with 32000 miles and the only unoriginal thing on it was the aerial(!) and the seller apologised for that and said he still had it in his shed if I wanted to refurb it The price for this hand-built beast - £4000 mmmmmmm

    Watcha got then knee doc..?

Its a dinky little turbocharged Porsche, goes like a bat out o hell, Group 20 though is a bit of a bummer but on a classic policy its quite cheap. All original, inside and out thought in need of a bit of tidying

Oh well went out and ordered a Cooper yesterday, silver with black roof and electric sunroof & leather.
Took it out for another test drive and really floored it this time with the salesman blessing. The car is quick and holds to the road better than any other car I have driven. I threw it round bends with the traction on and not a screech out of any tyre. Up to 80mph in no time at all and to top that all the best fuel economy out of any small hot hatch. So that made my mind up and gave the dealer a grand deposit should have it for Nov.

The minis were recalled for a couple of reasons - This is all from memory so might not be completly accurate.

Reason 1 - The Fuel filler cap wasnt properly earthed and a few people were getting sparks flying about when they were filling up their cars - sounds f'in dangerous to me lol

Reason 2 - The brakes were seizing up at high speeds such as motorway driving conditions.

These problems were from the release of the car and therefore shouldnt be affecting the latest cars - not the greatest debut ever but they are still a nice car for the money.

I will be sticking to my tried and tested 1967 mini for now though lol

    I would'nt buy the 206cc - Had a bad experience with a 206.

I like the look of the Mini and would definatly consider one. If your into tuning and stuff I reckon the Mini will be well looked after by the makers of all the toys.

    Here is a review - http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/ca...odel_id=100095

The service plan is a winner too.

    Now we're talkin' - a propper Mini.

I had a 1966 Morris Cooper S for the best part of 10 years. A real beauty, red/black, 4.5x10" Minilites and a few tastful ST parts. Nothing i've owned since has been as much fun (and that includes a 6R4).

I'm looking at the Mini too, I wreckon there over-priced for what they are!!! As for the MGF...hmmmm still old Maestro technology!!!. I think the Mini cooper looks great its BMW but I hear the engines are korean....thats not a good move. I've also been looking at the VW Lupo GTI.. maybe that could be something else for you to look at. The Pug 206 looks very pretty (if your a female) but dont know any reports on it

Are you sure they're korean? There's a new bmw engine plant not too far away from me in north warwickshire - my mate works there. I presumed that they supplied the mini engines to cowley..? They are apparently building a joint plant with peugeot right next to it, with a planned output of 1,000,000 engines a year. I don't know much more than that, but since it is with peugeot I'd guess that it is going to be a diesel engine plant.

Threatens the place that my mate works at, cos they're not doing so well. It is only about 2 years old too.
