    hi m8
yeah they arnt bad!! seeing that they are made by BMW u cant really say anymore.
u really need to take one for a drive to see what u think of it!!
What about a golf GT TDI sounds funny huh? but these are wicked on fuel and are real quick so good that Mr Clarkson from top gear rated better than the petrol 2.0 GTI!! now thats saying something. Cant go wrong with any german car m8 i got a Golf my old mans got an Audi and there sound cars!! An Audi A3 is a good motor too. Or what about a Smart Car :-)

I've never drove nor worked on one,but anyone from the trade I've heard mention them seems only to be to put them down. They appear to have had some serious recall problems although I don't know what for and anything I can say about them is secondhand information I'm afraid. Sorry I can't be of more help, but if I was planning to buy one I'd have to do some serious research after all the comments I've heard.

Thanks so far I will take a look at the TDI, I have taken the Cooper for a Test drive an loved it. Its a bit small inside but that doesnt matter as only I will be in it and I also have a large family car in a Vauxhall Zafira. Also I was thinking about a 2-3 year old MG convertible, they are a bit more thirsty but ill save a few thousand.

OK, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and ignore the hundreds of people and organisations that rave about german engineering, I'll forget all I know about cars for a munute and sit back while you back up your advice to us with your reasons. I REALLY look forward to hearing you convince me or anyone else that the country best known for Hitler and it's engineering are CRAP. Actually............ your rant only says one thing to me and thats "I wonder if he knows if all he's really doing is saying "Look at me! I know NOTHING" ? So, go on then, back it up then, what IS so crap about these cars?

I live in leicester and i quite like the look of the new mini, however i have seen 3 parked on the side of the road with the hazzards flashing in the last few months. Maybe when you buy 1 you get a licence to park anywhere and they are really reliable ????

I know of several people who work at Cowley and they rekon the build of the new mini means it aint designed to last very long, ie its Shite not even as good as the Rover 75 and thats saying something.

BTW i think Porsche, BMW and Mercedes just came in the top section of the Manufacturer tables Porsche were actually 3rd overall, never have i hear a more stupid statement that German cars were crap. (its just the Mini thats crap)

    HYBRID....

    I'm a prat? Really?

Tell it to all the people that live around me cos BMW couldn't piss in a pot if their lives depended on it.

Cos of the German tw*ts at BMW mucking about with the British car industry, workers at Rover and many many many suppliers last their jobs.

Because they sold out Range Rover, their American. Their suppliers have been shafted too and even more jobs have been lost.

So if you want to drive round in a car that cost 50 000 people in the UK their jobs then go for it.

And the same view would be taken by a few people in Spain (VW - Seat), Crewe (VW - Daimler & Rolls Royce), and a few more I could mention.

    I won't buy German....if you don't like me for it I don't give a sh*t , but don't dismiss me cos I won't take a German **** up my ***

The 206cc is quite really a very good car .
The build quality can become questionable at times , but it is a very nice drive and handles well .
Early models suffered from waterleaks from the roof area , but this was quickly sorted .
Depreciation values have been good and the demand for cars like this remains quite high .
The new mini is shit , and so is the mgf , keep away from them , as they are cheaply built and feel cheap to drive .

Also test drive a clio 172, Autocar said it would take some car to beat the mini cooper - "and the clio is that car."
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

Took the pug 206 2.0L covertible for a test drive and firstly what I liked about it was that it was quick especially for a convertible. I gave it a good thrashing (the salesman didnt look to impressed) anyway electric metal roof down, a nice silver 2.0 litre one with leather for £13500, it looks like I have made my mind up.
Thanks beansontoast but no more clios for me, I have had a Williams and am currently getting rid of one.
Looks like ill get rid of my Mini banner now

i've driven a mini cooper & it's very good. dont go for the option of bigger wheels because i drove one with 17"s & the ride was very firm. i didnt like the plastic door trims though. dont think 2 much about the 206CC though (looks awful).
