this product is supposed to work off satellite, this is off their website

    Where does the GPS work?
Information must be received from at least three suitably positioned satellites for position calculation. The signals sent by the GPS satellites are quite weak and do not travel through solid objects. Anyhow it might be possible to get signal through window.

    How accurate is the GPS?
Benefon Esc! has a high-performance 12-channel GPS receiver, which is inherently very accurate. Since the U.S. DoD, which operates the GPS system, stopped the intentional degradation of the GPS signals available to the public at 1.5.2000, civilian users of GPS have been able to pinpoint locations up to ten times more accurately than previously. This degradation feature is called Selective Availability (SA). With SA off, the user typically observes an accuracy of around 10 meters.

i got ipaq wiv gps jacket and its the bogs dollox !!!! accuracy within 5 meters , its simply awsome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you need to have it pointing to sky(the antenae) wont work in tunnels etc , but if your a driver ,cabby, got $hite sense of direction , this thing(pocket pc or similar) with gps mapping software is awsome , where ever you are in the world there are supposedly 4 satelites watchin u at any time , and its a gadget well worth havin , but i got my reservations bout 3g and this phone i wanted to get this particular one but after reading the link in my above post its put me off big time , im just gonna wait for another next gen gps phone (without having to pay for the privalige of usin gps as its free anyway )

strange that, is says: Our Price: £117.49 (99.99 exc.)
but when u add it to basket it says 149.70, they must not have changed the price.

Just recieved this e mail from Benefon

    Dear Sir,

It is a real 12-channel GPS receiver, independent from the GSM.

    Best regards,
    Benefon Webmaster

So it sounds like it is true GPS
