    Default Controlling me laser

I have got me a fancy laser and want to play around with it (range finding, communication, surveilance etc) have been to a few good websites and got the spec for the electronics and am happily soldering away.

My problem is though I'm going to need to link it my PC to make it really useful but know very little about command & control systems.

I'm thinking of linking it via a com port and coding the interface in C++. Has anyone got any advice/websites that may be useful.

I have done quite a bit of VB & C++ and used to do digi-cards back in the day.

    Cheers
