I posted earlier about this game possibly being protected.. like FADE protection.

    I have made a discovery!!

If you run this game on a PAL box at 50 Hz the AI is demented. They drive at about 40MPH and are all over the place.

If you switch to 60HZ the game is fine. AI up to speed and giving a good challenge.

Could S*ga/Msoft have put this check in deliberately? I.e. if run on a bog standard Pal machine at 50HZ (which I am sure could be detected in code) then the protection kicks in.

When run at 60Hz however the code cannot distinguish the machine fron an NTSC model and therefore runs the game correctly.

Can someone verify this for me?

    Cheers.

OH MY GOD. You are right.

SEGA GT 2002 DOES NOT PERFORM RIGHT IN 50MHz EUROPEAN STANDARD.

I tested it, and can verify it.

Ex1: In 50Mhz i lapped other racers on Very Hard mode.
    - Changed to 60MHz: ended last.

    Ex2: License B test was impossible in 50 Mhz. ( i tried 5 hrs)
    - Changed to 60Mhz, passed it on try 2.

What has to be done now, is a group releasing the European PAL version of this game.

It's in the main settings pal 50/60 hz. The same place you choose widescreen etc.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...
