I am a complete novice at this so could some one explain in english what I need to do to play backups on my Xbox ie.
    Which chip ?
Do I need any thing else?
Will it work the same as a PSX chip (play backup straight away)?
How much will it cost fitted?
Is there anyone in County Durham that will do it ?

As far as chips go, just depends on what you want. I got mine from levelsix.com. Do the shopping a little bit (Yahoo search engine) and you will find some good info.
It will play backups, but you will need the right software. Do some surfing in this forum about ISO's, EVOX, and so on. Trust me, you won't get good info unless you find it yourself. I am still looking for my answers and most of the people refer you to different places. Good luck

mike you really are unbeleivable, you talk about me not answering your questions when i clearly did, wot the hell do you call your answer to this guy, you didnt answer him

    right chipbuttyman.

it all depends on a few things, if you only want to play backups then any chip will do they all play backups, but the first couple of betas have problems with a small few games and they need to be patched to work.

so if your only gonna play backups then an enigmah will do but the x-ecuter is a better chip as it supports the eject trick, and the evolution-x hard disk drive patch, this lets u put a larger hard drive in your xbox if you want to do that. There is also something called evolution-x wich when installed on your xbox hard drive lets you connect your xbox to your pc, then put an original game in the xbox, then copy all the files over to your pc then burn them on a disc(most need a dvd writer and 4.7gig blank DVD-R discs when done this way) to play in the xbox, before evolution-x came out this was not possible

you dont need anything else just to play backups, they just pop in and play, DVD-R and CDR-Wdiscs seem to give best results

cost varies depending on where to go to get it done

dont know if there is anyone in county durham that does it, but there are a few people on this forum who are very reliable, you could send it to them and it gets returned by special delivery

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] this guy does it for £70

there are a few more on here aswell, if you havent already got it done ill find them for you and post them here

no probs m8 happy to help, i didnt want him to put you off saying you wont find the answer unless you do it yourself, 98% of the people on this forum are VERY helpfull m8.

if you need any more info when you get it done dont be afraid to ask no matter how daft you think the question may be, we all gotta start somewhere and learn as much as we can
