    Default pc shuts down

    Hi
I have a pc running XP sometimes it just turns off - on reboot I get the following message.

    C:\docume~1\windows\locals~1\temp\WERere6.dir00\mini021210-03.dmp.
    C:\docume~1\windows\locals~1\temp\WERefe6.dir00\sysdata.xml

I vaccumed out fluff and dust as I suspected maybe overheating, any further advice lads?
    thanks

those files actually contain infomation about the crash report. Its hard to tell sometimes from whats contained within but that would be a good start.

The fact that they pop up indicates you have a hardware issue of some sort causing the system to crash. Get core temp and check the temperatures and post them up. Get prime95 see what the temps are under 100% load. Is there anything specific that your doing before the system crashes?

the system is blue screening and creating a mini dump

A blue screen can be caused by any hardware and any software.

There is no way of telling until you get the error thats generated

    Firstly disable auto restart

    1. Right click "My Computer" and choose Properties.
    2. Click on the "Advanced" tab
    3. Click on the "Settings" button listed under "Startup and Recovery"
    4. In the middle of this box under "System failure" there is a check box next to "Automatically restart". Uncheck this box.
    5. Now OK out of "Startup and Recovery" and "System Properties"

    Start > run >
    %SystemRoot%\Minidump

send me the contents of this folder will have a look at them (need a tool to open them)
