How old is your little kid? Bios screens i would say are pretty complicated and scary for children or anyone who has no experiance with computers. He must be a smart kid to understand how to get to password and manage to type the same password in twice!
Just ask the kid what word he typed in or what he did.
Did your kid password the bios screen or did he password the whole laptop so when you turn it on it requires a password?
Would phone up compaq, give them your model number of ur laptop etc and see if they can provide you with the backdoor password to your laptop. If not and u cant start your laptop or anything look for a battery.
they have a cmos jumper take it off, boot it, turn it off, replace jumper, boot it.. should sort it
