The Thing won't work in higher resolutions than 640x480!

I have been at this for 4 weeks now. Every time I set the resolution higher than 640x480 the game freezes right after choosing your difficulty setting and watching the loading screen(right before the opening cutscene with the guy with the flashlight or whatever). Anyways, I tried the registry fix for changing your resolutions but it still does not work. All I can do is play the game in 640 by 480 resolution

What's your video card and system spec ?

Maybe it's a monitor refresh rate prob ...
I play the game on 1024 x 728, it's damn nice.

I also tried the registry hack and still no desired mode avalaible...sticks with some strange unusual reso modes and ugly refresh rates. It's the only game i have problems with. Usin nvrefix and newest drivers every other game works awesome...no damn clue

I am running a Radeon 8500 64mb and Windows Xp Pro. Every other game works like magic. The Thing didn't work with patch 1.1 or 1.0.

I had some problems with it as well, I changed the resolution and then it showed me a "yes" and "no" button (if I recall correctly) and I had about a second or less to click the "yes" before the resolution went back to 640*480

The keyword is "fast" boys and girls

man i had the same prob.. or atleast i think i had...but it froze after about one minute of gameplay... couldn't change res... i reinstalled and patched it.. tried that? it worked for me..

grabbing ut2k3 atm.. we'll see how it goes with that... my guess.. freeze plus no res... it's like that for most of my games... damn comp...

Are you sure you applied the registry fix correctly? I've never heard of it not working.

yup. The registry fix isn't the fix I need. The game just does not work in resolutions higher than 640 by 480.

This game is weird.. i managed to get it working @ 1600x1200. When i initially loaded the game, in video options it says 1600x1200 but is was definately running @ 640x480 cause it looked all blocky.

When i attempt to change it i couldnt select anything other than 1600x1200 which is already selected.

When i pressed enter once or twice on the video option screen it finally displayed it at 1600x1200. Havent had a problem since then.
