Help with drivers!

Hi,

I have just upgraded to Windows XP Pro, I downloaded drivers for my scanner, when I open the self extracting zip file, it unzips to a directory, then in the directory just get a bunch of files, and I don't know what to do with them! Can sum1 please tell me where to put these files. The scanner is a CanoScan FB636U.

Okay... First of all, look through the files, if there is a "Setup.exe" or something similar, just run that and it should do the rest

If not, do the following:

Right Click on My computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager

In the new window, find the your scanner (It will probably have an exclamation mark next to it, but not neccessarily), It may be necessary to expand some of the categories (click on the small plus next to the icon). When you have found the device, do the following:

Right click on it > Properties > Driver > Update Driver

In the new window, select 'Install Driver from a specific location', and click on next. Select 'Don't search, i will specify the location myself' and click on next. Click on 'Have Disk', and then 'Browse'. Then move to the area where you extracted the contents of your Driver ZIP file, and select the file it shows. You will then return to the previous screen - Select your model scanner and continue on through the install process. If XP whines about driver certification, just click on continue
