what do you guys use. i honestly subsided to the pressure since i hadn't heard any good music since audiogalaxy, and d/led kazaa. what a useless turd-o-shit. not one song was over 128kbps, and no remotely underground shit. it would've been nice had i wanted to listen to nelly and eminem in shitty quality, but alas i don't. what do you guys use. i'm a little bit foreign to the whole mp3 scene...

I'll admit I fire this up once in a while. There's so much music out there, and if what you're looking for is NOT a k-l337 new release, sometimes p2p can be the answer.
I'm trying to move away from MP3 though. Lossless trading is the way to go, with formats like SHN and APE. They only reduce the filesizes by around 40-50%, but retain the FULL quality of the original. That also means files can be uncompressed and recompressed an unlimited number of times without quality loss. The thing about MP3 is you have people uncompressing and recompressing files, polluting the trading pool with 2nd and 3rd generation encodes. Unless you're downloading files that came straight through release groups (with their typical tags at the end of filenames) you never know what kind of crap you might get.
For people that use newsgroups, check out the legal grateful dead newsgroups (*.*.gdead.*) Yes, it's legal. They use the shorten (SHN) compression.

WinMX. The quality of the songs seems to be better (more higher bitrate stuff) and the new version has all the pipelined download/ file grouping features of kazaa.
The only thing I don't like about winmx is it uses constant P2P network communtication bandwidth when idle.
I use kazaalite for videos and misc software as needed.
thank you peoples. trying soulseek right now, and i think it's a pretty sweet layout. it's not a huge community though, and it's selection of hiphop isn't the greatest, but not terrible. i think i'll try blubster next. thanks again.
