Make October 1st 2002 do down in History

There will be a general walkout (of schools, work, sell your stock etc....)on October 1, 2002 to protest going into Iraq and the shady stuff that has been going down, such as the Patriot Act.

CNN says "Orange Alert, everyone go on with your lives, we have it under control (so we can bomb Iraq without people get in our way and actually learning the whole issue, and by the way due to the patriot act the government is now allowed to withhold important information and even take librarians into custody who distribute inforation that they deem not ok for the public to see."

They are also allowed to take someone into custody for an indefinate period of time without telling them why. There are people who have been jailed since sept. 11 2001, and do not know why. Yeah, you could argue this is brutal but necessary to maintain national security, but this means that the government can now take anyone (maybe someone who speaks out against them, or gets in the way of their agenda) and confine them, legally!! The gov. could let them out in 5 months and just say they though they were funding terrorists, and be off the hook.

Anyway, please participate in the general strike on October 1st 2002, or at least spread the word.

I'm 16 and i wont be going to school that day.

i think what bush really what is to have more control over arabic countries(and oil at the same time)
bush help a new governement to go in iraq then theyll be friend with him
i mean saddam is ready to let un inspector in if theyt stop the commercials penalties again its country
i think attacking iraq would be a bad move from ur bush
anyway thats just my 2cents

Yes i'll walk outta work and get my ass fired ... I understand where your coming from though, it's getting pretty bad ... I was all for attacking Iraq. But thinking about it now, this could be very very bad ... Without a doubt they'll loose support from countries in that region. And who knows, those countries will probably join the fight against America. Then US will have to get support from it's close friends. Then it's just WW3. I can see without a doubt why Saddam must go. But it could turn very badly ... There's no doubt that Bush is gonna attack Iraq either with or without others support. He has basically said that in press conferences many times. It could be very bad ...

sad thing is that politicans in general and george bush especially doesnt give a shit if you dont go to school or not...sure if half of americas kids didnt show up in school one day he maybe would comment it on tv because he had to but he seriously and honestly wouldnt give a fuck.

Would he give a fuck if a million people sat down on the steps of congress? maybe, maybe not, but it would let people know that is a two sided issue and is not as simple as many people think, it may make bush question what he's doing. maybe not. but nothing is going to change everyone sits there downloading computer games. people need to stop being so passive and helpless. "we shouldn't try because noone will listen."

you might be right, but i think people should do it anyway. although im not going to lose my job so its a lot easier for me.

your right that bush and his posse probably would never know or care if there was a walkout. i guess the point is not missing school or job, because why would the gov. care if you missed school. but having a time where everyone unites and does something. and a general walkout would probably be a waste of time. maybe a specific action? i dont know what.

I know this might sound nasty, but we need to destroy them all, I'll explain why.
