Default Where to go for 1st time insurance?

Well have been looking for insurence for a family member, new driver, just 17, male, and is looking to insure a 1 or 1.1 litre.
He has a micra but his brother is looking at a Saxo.
Just wondering where you find best for men? As I was looking a few months back and found Churchill the best for women, just 17 but can't find a reasonable price anywhere for men!
    Anyway any help much appreciated,
    Cheers

dont get a saxo, get a 106. same car but the saxo is what boy racers drive so they'll assume he's gonna crash.

(i know a million folk will post saying they arent the same car now, but i havent been flamed in a while so fuck it)

Tell him to put his details through h**p:///www.confused.com and see what's the cheapest.

Normaly it's best to go as a second driver when 17.

Well I was advised to go on his own as his no claims would be good after the year, I remember I couldn't be a second driver because my parents were already doing it :s

try autotrader.co.uk, under the motoring heading there is a insurence section, far better than confused.com. Would expect around £1400 for a 1L car at 17.

confused.com is the way to go.

Tell him to make sure he is sitting comfortably when he looks at the price, because a brand new 17 year old driver is going to get stiffed on whatever he tries to insure.

Here's another search site similar to confused.com:

you'll easily get cheaper than £1400 on a 1litre! i've been quoted £1200 for a 1.4 16V starting 2 days after my 18th birthday. from norwich union, they are also the cheapest for my mums car which is under £500 for a 1.4 golf (used to be in the lower triple figures before i got added to it )

i just seen this the other day, if he has anyone that he can put the insurance in and be added as a named driver, direct line will give both no claims bonuses!!! prob more expensive but worth it.

Cheapest insurance I've had is Churchill. Before that i was with Norwich Union which were cheap. Try these and get a good price.

Who is supposed to be offering a discount a like this?
Cause one can make a difference, Ten can make a change, One Hundred can make things get better round your lanes, One Thousand a new start, Ten thousand a revolution, One million we'll finally be close to the solution.

Thats what I thought :S most companies do not take it into account, those who do tend to reduce the 1500 by something pathetic like 90!

Give elephant.co.uk a try - confused.com on all quotes seem more expensive when I was looking for a quote.

Im sure theres a company that gives an additional years NCB after one year for new drivers although I forget the company (perhaps directline.com???)

Its always sh*t trying to build up a NCB.
