    Default Quick PS2 Question (DVD's)

    Hi,

Just quick question about DVD/R playback on PS2's.....
How come some play them ok, and others play them in black and white?

Has it got something to do with the leads used or something?

Don't have a PS2 myself, so have no idea.

    Someone help me out,.

    Cheers

You need a proper 21-pin scart lead. The one you get with the PS2 is some crappy euro-scart thing and only fit for the bin !

    hi rudeyute.

yeah its the leads, you need a scart lead for the PS2, so that they all play in colour. (both movies and games).

if they are gonna play different region dvd's then you would be better off getting a datel region x dvd kit, for around £15 quid for the ps2.

    it has

    a) scart lead
    b) removes region protection
    c) removes the green screen. (colours the screen green to deter
    dvd film piracy).

    --- else...

if they only gonna play region2 or region free dvd., then (if u can solder) you can get a screen fix to remove the green screen effect. but you will need a scart lead to get colour.

    Good luck.

What they need to ask for is a scart lead that supports RGB.
On some tv's you need to select rgb mode before it will play the game.

Composite will play in black and white on many TV's because the signal is at 60 hz instead of 50 hz for pal.

Some older tv's will not display the 60 HZ signal at all, all you end up with is a rolling picture, most modern tv's will now display the signal.

Not exactly: composite will play in B&W because it is a NTSC signal, no matter what the frequency is.

    Concerning your TV set:
    - support for NTSC signal: you can use the composite cable, or a RGB scart lead.
    - support for 60 Hz only: you must use a RGB lead, or the (import: JAP/US) game will play in B&W.
