Default Xbox Games Copy FAQ? Tutorial

    Hi,

Reading around here, I figured that the PC cannot read Xbox Games. So that I've got to using something called evolution-x to rip it and save it assuming using FTP or the network to my PC and then burn.

    Am I corerct so far?

What I am missing is some tutorial or a good document that explain evolution-x and the process of doing it and all about it. There is a lot of bits and pices in the forum but I beleive it's too advanced for me as I don't know where to start?

Any idea if there is a good site or post with good start on evolution-x, how to start it, install it and so on?

Also, would evolution-x work without the Mod chip?

    Thank you.

The easy way to start is to download the EvoX software (its an ISO file) and burn it to a CDRW or DVDR/RW. You can then boot your Xbox from this disc and you will get a menu of choices - one of these choices is network. If you PC is connected to your Xbox and is acting as a DHCP server (installing internet sharing will activite this if you dont already have it activiated) you will get an IP address here - FTP to that address from your PC and the D:\ is the DVDrom on your Xbox - copy the contents of this will make a backup fo your orginal discs.

There are more detailed posts on this - do a search for backups on the xbox forums - but this is a condensed version of how to do it.

And by the way this only works on a chipped xbox - you cannot run unsigen code on a non chipped box so forget doing anything if your not modded.

    Thanks...

That clears up a lot of my questions...

Rerading around, users are burning using standard PC software like Nero. If we cannot read the Xbox DVDs... How can the Xbox be able to read the PC DVDRs? Because wouldn't we be burning it in ISO format? I gues sit j ust reads it? And if you just FTP the file down, what about the CD being bootable?

Anyways. I'll give it a try.

Where can I find the EvoX ISO file?

    Thanks.

    Good question -
Same way it reads DVD movies that can be also read by your PC, it works fine.
