    Owen's srike partner???

Who should partner Owen up front for Saturday's game?
Peter Beardsley says Alan Smith but are they too alike predator wise? Should we stick with Heskey? Thoughts please...

the lump will be played prolly on the left

alan smith while simalar to owen imo works twice as hard off the ball and will earn England good posession upfront Against Slovakia who lets face it will be chasing every ball.

    We will need that.

I think we will struggle to win on Sat because they are fired up after losing 3-0 to Turkey and without Rio and Sol our defence is not at its best.

I don't think we will struggle at all and if we do it will be down to our players not the hyped up fishermen. 3 clear goals and I wish Shearer was still an international.

We will win 2-0 thats my prediction.

Vassell would rip em to bits if he gets the balls he doesn't get at Villa

We will see on the day

slovakia have very few lakes and no coastal borders and what with my wife coming from the fair country and having been there myself 3 times I can confirm that there are more kosher bacon sandwiches than there are Slovak Fisherman.

As for "I dont think we will struggle & 3 Clear goals" that is the sort of english arrogant attitude that the Jocks love us for. A game is not won until the final whistle is blown and there are banana skins a'plenty in International footy.

But I do agree about Shearer (not as captain though coz mgrs are alsways too scared to sub the captains) so your post wasnt a total loss and compared to some of PSXRing's posts it was a fekkin revelation

Fishermen is just a phrase and looking at the squad we have 3 clear goals shuold not be a problem. it is because of the talent that we have that i am so arrogant, from the back right up to the front. Even with injuries. I will appologise on monday if the "3 clear goals" are not there. Who can replace Shearer though?

Senegal have history with France. My appologies to your wife but we will blast Slovakia to the nearest coastline and they will wish they were fisherman.

I would like to see smith play some part in the game as Major has already said great work rate and his nasty little attitude will certainly unsettle a lot of defenders however I fear son of Bruno will once again get the nod............................

i think he will play smith and owen up front with the excellent and commited Heskey on the left.....

you guys should really stop giving him stick you know.....he puts in a lot of good performances for club and country yet gets labbled by every numbskull that picks up a ****ing paper........

they have to have someone to slag off in the england team.......heskey is just that man....was cole before him, mcmanaman before him..etc etc.......just the way the english press are........i cant believe that some of you guys that actually proclaim to know a bit about football actually think that emile is a bad player.....

ill second that, Bruno works harder than most forwards. Last season a lot of liverpools goals where down to him. He will also win the odd important free kick for Becks to finish off.

There is only one "Bruno" at Anfield and thats Cheyrou.
    Heskey isn't "Bruno".....

For the record, I would like to see Smith and Owen as well.

Definitely Smithy. Will work his sock's off to hold it up for Owen and drop back into midfield to find the ball when needed.

Well I still hear the Anfield crowd cheering Bruno even when Cherou is not playing, so his knickname must still remain Bruno as it was last season, maybe Webslinger can clarify as i havent been to a match yet this season.

The ratty rat known as Alan Smith will be in-effective without Bowyer. When he hasn't got Bowyer at Leeds he has Viduka, he needs someone to hold the ball up like Owen does. if scholes or gerrard tucked in behind them and they both played a little wider maybe we would see more passing to feet and less of the long ball. That way if the pass was not an option we could see Scholes or Gerrard doing what they do best, attacking defences who will have enough on their plates containing Owen and Smith?????

    fantom u r obviously anti-leeds

woody is not yet up to the challange but that dont make him a tosser and smithy could end up doing better than owen

i might not like certain teams but try to be as unbiased as poss when commenting on individuals as who knows when that person might be the star of your own fav team. But when it comes to England its even more important.

if u want an example try Nicky Butt. Most footy fans in the country h8 manu and there was an uproar when he was selected as the midfield battler, not because anyone out there had a clue about his abilities but because they h8 manu and didnt want another red in the england squad

so try and keep an open mind and think a bit more about what a player can offer rather than the shirt he wears when he is not playing for our country
