No mate- it will not burn dvd-r so you won't be able to burn Xbox/Ps2 games. It will only burn dvd-ram which is no good for consoles......

its not even a dvd-ram m8, its just a cdwriter and a dvd-ROM built in.

    you need a pioneer a04/104 m8

Other drive options include Ricoh 5125, HP 200i, Philips 228k, Sony DRU-120. These drives all burn DVD+R and DVD+RW discs which also work great with the xbox and also have a slight speed advantage over the DVD-R/RW models. I fiddle around with xbox game compilations on rewritables (DVD+RW burnt at 2.4x) before commiting to DVD+R discs.

I personally own the Ricoh 5125, and have had a great run with it. One of the best purchases I've made. Disks are little more expense than DVD-R/RW, with current prices at about £1-50 each but the prices are dropping quick. Should be under £1 in the next couple of months, which is great considering the DVD+R discs started at about £7-50 only six months ago.

If you cant decide on which format, Sony is bringing out a drive (DRU-500) that writes to both types of disc.

Speaking of which burner to get, can anyone recommend a good burner program that will work with the Philips DVD+RW 200 series ? Ive got Nero, Prassi and CDRWIN. Prassi and CDRWIN dont recognise it at all, and Nero allows compilations to be created but it wont let me burn a DVD ISO Image onto it...it insists on trying to get me to load a CDRW !

Any help would be received with much thanks !

adders99, go with RecordNow Max (v4.1). Its the best program I've seen. I'm using it on my Ricoh, but I'm pretty sure it also works with the Philips drives.
