I believe it goes on the same location as the x-ecuter (points are almost similar, except for the row with 3 points). Underneath the PCB are probably pins of some sort that contact with the corresponding points on the xbox board when the PCB is screwed in place! Simple but ingenious.

What I'm interested in knowing is how easy it would be to flash the thing (since it will be shipped blank). Do you flash it with the programmer before attaching it to the xbox?

the connection should be good unless you shake the hell out of your box.

yeah, i just watched the installation video. the pic that freaky posted is the top of the chip...looks good since you wouldn't have to keep taking the chip out the reflash. this chip has promise.

Installation of that chip in the videos does look impressive. I think I would be more careful though!

nice and easy but i'm gonna stick my neck out and say that there's NO WAY that's gonna be reliable in the long term. Its relying on the stiffness of the board and the points pressed down not becoming tarnished etc....

    hmm....

what are you on about, it just aint reliable to use pins (that tarnish) to touch solder pads (that are designed to be soldered to) with a board that will give a little over time and you are relying on 1 screw.... jeez i'm glad you dont design my computers...

the only thing other than a solder mod that would be reliable would be if you put in a proper pin header and plugged it in on pins, even then it wouldnt be the same over a matter of years.

I reckon the running vibration of the Box, ie both cooling fans plus the varying heat levels will pop the xodus bubble(as malty said, tarnish etc.) in less than years.......... and no one has a console for years these days anyway, sad really. The PSX had the best innings by far and I doubt if it will be repeated in my life time etc etc, waffle drone ad nauseum..................

I dont know, I am still up for testing one of these babys out - with a couple of blobs from the trusty glue gun - it might be more stable than you think - what the hell it will it will allow alot of folk who want to get a modded box get it done DIY style as well. Or it could be a complete death trap, Respect to them for trying a new idea out either way, That green light on the board if a F**king good idea - like to see that on more mod chips.

    Cheers

    Default Humm...BUT

Once you have one of these new 'clip on' chippys you can run unsigned code.

Then you can run Evo X

Then you can flash the on board Bios

Then you can take the thing out if you want!

Which may answer some of the reliability worries

And provide others with an instant 'no skill & no outlay' bussiness 'chipping Xboxes:shock:

flashing requires the soldering of 2 jumpers.

And provide others with an instant 'no skill & no outlay' bussiness 'chipping Xboxes
and unhappy customers that return compaining that the things unreliable...
