I would just try flashing again, to see if the error repeats itself.

    update:

he just tested the drive, booted original okay, he said it seemed to stall once when opening it with the disk tray eject.

tried to play a backup but said it did not boot. first time to burn a 360 game something could have went wrong there.

Write Verify failed and something could have gone wrong? You think ?

    Helpful as always

The pc he was flashing it from is a piece of shit, is it possible that the verification failed because the PC hung?

I've told him to test it with a disc anyway, but reflashing it would probably be the way to go, any ideas on why it failed in the first place though?

    just one of 'em things?

The verify failed because read back compare had a mismatch.

I bet if you save target firmware, and recump, do a hex compare - there iwll be a difference between the 2.

Not adviseable if youre using LT for XBL.

I'm not sure if hes planning on using it for live, I'll let him know he should reflash anyway.

he tested a backup last nights and it played okay.

Oggy, would the best thing to do be dump the current LT firmware on the drive, compare it to the LT software that was created after the original was dumped and see if theres an difference?

Prep LT in target buffer, save to file (this is what you want on the drive)

    Redump the drive.

Compare the 2 files, if there is a mismtach (I assure you there will be) it was correct to fail verification.
