I have recently switched to a new webhost and no longer have perl installed on the server. How do I got about installing it? Which version do I install? I only need to run perl to generate log reports. Thanks.

i dont think u install it the server has to support it through they're servers.... its not like a chat board scripting... its the foundations for scripting...
what do your new hosts supply u with? im with oneandone.... very good support.
Meh....
if they support perl 5.6.1 the all u should need to do is put the scripts in relevant dirs in ur server space... if its the same data that was on ur previous server make sure all paths are directed to new targets....
should work fine if it supports latest version...
if not ur host should supply FAQ's for ur problems....
Meh....
check that link i gave u... it has paths for ur scripts etc...
Meh....
it depends on the host
you will have a cgi-bin were you can put your executable scripts
you may have your own personal log file, usually in a logs folder
and a htdocs or public-html for your html files.
assuming a unix system, with a semi-default installation.
