NFL Fever hangs everytime, but all else works well - what gives?

I cannot get NFL Fever 2003 to work on my xbox. All else works fine, but everything starts fine, but hangs up with sound issues and frames freezing on the screen after just a few plays. Does not happen with Madden 2003, or NFL 2K3.... What gives?
