Might be worth trying the tt-forum.co.uk. Otherwise it may need a visit to either the stealers or one of the remap firms may have the original code on file.
Is the car still starting? What are the symptoms? What tool did he use? You really need to supply more information so I can help you.
Hi TC
Car is still running, my mate had fooked about with mileage changer and it wrote it into kms then reset the whole lot to 9999999km's and looking about its a common problem with this type of cheap end software,
Another of my friend has dumped the file down using dashfixer and has tried writing the mileage back to original mileage but its not writing this back to the Dash but he is due to update his dashfixer so sometimes gets a few problems.
Believe its an M73 type VDO
Keys are still coded and i have the clean dump file if thats any good ?
why not get your mate to contact dashfixer if hes a customer they will help him
Dude,
Thats a common problem with even the higher end kit (99999999's), the solution is once the car has been driven at least 80kms when first attempted to correct mileage, re-attempt correction again (Get your mate with Dashfixer to do it) and this time it will work (try via diagnostics).
To change back to Miles is easy using VAG-COM cable in the 'regional' settings section. I can find out exact Channel and Value if you need it.
Good news is that the data is not completely corrupted or the car would not start. It's just a checksum problem on the mileage algo.
Are you anywhere near Liverpool ? If so bring it to me and I will sort it dude as a good gesture.
