    Help Company Car

I have decided to opt back into the company car scheme and I have narrowed it down to 3 cars.

    Toyota Prius TSpirit 1.8 auto
Fully loaded inc sat nav, leather, cruise, head up display and solar powered air con for when your not in the car £42 / month company car tax

    VW Scirroco 2.0tdi
No Leather, sat nav or cruise £72 / month
Add extras and its is over £120 / month

    Audi A3 2.0 tdi
Pretty identicle to the scirroco in price and spec

If I was to get a £200 pay rise it would push me into the 40% bracket and all prices double!!!! Really confused what to go, so tempted with the scirroco but my wallet wants the Prius. Anybody got any recommendations? Or somebody say the Prius is a dog and never driven anything worse in their life

I do about 1000 miles a month if that makes any difference and I would not consider myself a tree hugger. My previous car I just sold was a Honda Civic CTR 2008 so thats why I am looking at the scirroco for sporty appeal

I quite like the idea of a Prius especially at that price. It should be a nice place to be for those 1000 miles a month. Is the A3 and Scirroco really worth that extra money? Especially if you get a pay rise.

I'd imagine instead of ragging the Prius like you would a CTR you'd actually enjoy trying to get an extra few MPG out of it?

It's up to you and your budget at the end of the day mate, but I'd go for the Scirroco myself.

VW's engines are pretty damn good, pull like trains and the Diesels get good mileage too, reviews for the one you're looking at put the figure at around 50MPG, plus it's a fantastic looking car.

I know, it looks a beast in green or white. The kit in the Prius is great though...Solar climate control, Auto parking assist and dynamic cruise were as the scirroco is basic and 3 times the price.

it's a valid point, that's why i said it depended on what you were comfortable spending.

I personally would spend more and go for the Scirroco because I really like the design and the VW engines.

And I out and out don't like the Prius.

The Prius is probably better value for money, but the VW would be more fun to drive.

I'd say a wee drive in the Prius is worth a look. Guy in work has a 1.5 Hybrid and I thought the display on it was pretty funky how it gives full details on the battery and the likes.

Failing that, would be the Audi for me. Scirocco doesn't do it for me at all, and I'm a big VW fan.

I have a Golf GT TDI with the DSG gear box and that is taxable at about £76 every 4 weeks. I am currently doing 43.3 MPG

I would rather walk than drive / be a passenger in a Prius. Think Top Gear proved that a M3 was better on fuel than the Prius also.

If they are your 3 choices I would take the VW. If you take the Audi you are really taking a VW Golf, but not as good IMO.

Take it the Prius is there as a joke?

I'd go for the Scirroco too but to be honest I doubt there's much in it between that and the Audi. Advantage of the VW is that people will let you pull out in traffic and overtake and stuff, whereas everyone goes out of their way to upset Audi drivers because Audi drivers are pricks.
