Touch screen PC with voice control - possible?

Seeing how much touch screens have come down for PC's and the fact mine is dying on its feet, i am being pushed more into looking at a replacement.

I want to do this totally myself from scratch and would love it to be non reliable on a keyboard and mouse for typical start up of music, films and even some basic internet use.

Is it still too early days for this, or is it a real possibility.

Only ever toyed and fixed PC's, never built one from scratch so would also look for some guidance with that as well in due course.

It's been possible for ages mate. I am not sure if there is a better method but as long as your screen has a digitiser (or it is a touch screen as standard), then you just run appropriate software to interpret what touching the screen does, in your case you want it to click on the location you touch. Then speech recognition software has been around for years and is very precise now. There will be tonnes of packages to choose from but I used IBM viavoice years ago and it worked quite well.

AFAIK the computer itself would not require any special components, just the monitor needs to be touch screen. You are pretty much taking a standard PC and turning a 'kiosk' mode on. Loads of people have these types of touch PCs in their cars, I almost built one but the transflective monitor was over £300 alone.

Thanks. I have been looking into different options.
Software and hardware. Got a budget in mind now of what it woudl cost today.
So saving and by the time i have that (next year) then simply replace for what is modern, or buy the older mods and save.

When i sad possible, i realise it is, it is if it will be workable/usable.

Ultimately, i want to create th ability to use CAD packages with voice and very keen on the eye path recognition i am seeing. Somehow combinatting this with pressure for arts/replacement of tablets woudl be quite something.
