    Default Strange problem!

I have not used my Xbox for a few weeks as we have been away. I tried to play last night and I had a strange problem.
I was playing a game then without warning the screen went blank, the green power light began flashing and then the screen went back to the dashboard. The power light continued to flash and the DVD icon said it was opening, but the DVD tray did not open.
I have tried turning the Xbox off and back on again and the same thing has happened.
My drive is using LT 1.1 and the problem happens with both original and back up games.
There is no error message and no red lights.
This is a refurb Xbox that was sent to me my MS following my last one breaking late last year. I have not used it that much since it was sent to me due to work, but since I have a few days off I thought I would get some gaming in! All the best plans eh!
Anyone else had this problem, and is there anything I can do?
    Thanks

only thing i can think of is have you checked the drive is plugged in properly, if its no that maybe try reflashing the drive back to stock and see how it behaves

Ive flashed it to ixtreme 1.6 and it does the same. then Flashed it back to 1.1 but no change.
The drive is plugged in properly I think, there are no lose connections.
If I put the origina lfirmware back on (I think you mean the one included with 1.1) will that make a difference before I flash back to 1.1? If that makes sence!!

no i cant see it helping at all, ive not come across this personally, i have heard of a few boxes failing with green lights flashing, that was the cause of a update on refurb units that had been flashed, rendered the boxes totally useless. only thing i can say is phone ms them selfs and tell em, (with out mentioning the firmware lol) and see what they say

So would it be better to flash back to original firmware just in case they say send it back again?. I have a sticker and the box is not banned.
Can they still tell? I dont want to send it back and then get it back with the "tampered" letter!!

    Question?
Is it a liteon drive with an lt switch or had the mra hack?

Because it sounds like the drive is loosing power then coming back on.
Could be a bad solder joint on the rail.

Its a 74850C. I used the probe to get the key so no solder.
I could just get a new drive as I have the key, but Its still under warranty so thinking of a call to MS. Will need to flash back to original firmware I think.
If it was something simple would have done it myself but new drives are £30 so if MS will replace it all the better.

Are the now replacing with newer drives that will need LT switch? Or are referbs still getting the older drives?

I cant get the dvd try to stay closed now!!
I was about to take the xbox appart to flash the firmware again. I started the xbox and the game booted, then the screen went black and the tray ejected. I took the game out and tried to close the tray, but when ever I close the tray it ejects itself again. I have tried with the button and in the dashboard.
Even when I turn off the console the tray closes and then opens before powering off.
Going to leave it for a while and try again later.

if you remove the drive cover an check there is no short circuits or wires loose on the bottom of the PCB.
    There are 6 wires 2x motor power 4x tray position switches. ( 2xYellow 2x White 1xRed 1x Black)
Just try it with dvd cover off and see if that helps!
