    Default Ink Cartridge Question

I put a new ink cartridge in my fax machine about 6 months ago, since then it has been used twice when it was put in, the fax hasnt been used for a while because I'm still waiting for my work line to be moved to my house so has been sitting there redundant, yesterday I plugged it in because I needed to copy a sheet of paper however it was just printing blank.

Has the ink possibly dried up? Is that even possible?

Is there a way to resolve it without having to buy a new cartridge, the damn thing cost £40 and I don't send many faxes so want to know if there is anything I can do before going and getting a new one.

    thanks in advance

I might have been. Have you tried email yet? Apparently it's the next big thing.

Pisstakery aside, I now feel bad because there are some genuine reasons to use fax (mostly related to the person at the other end being 20 years behind on their technology) but I don't know much about them. It certainly is possible for old ink cartridges to stop working from lack of use though, but this can be caused by either the print head clogging or the cartridge itself. On some units, the print head and cartridge is combined into one thing so you replace the cartridge and you are happy. On some, the nozzle is separate and you'd be screwed. I have made an OK attempt at fixing it on an old Epson inkjet by running a head clean, which your fax machine will almost certainly be able to do too, if you consult the manual. Best of luck with it.

Email sounds interesting? I may have to give that a try...

Like I said its been used a couple of times in 6 months, however when I'm recieving a stuff from another country that is signed and the other person wants to fax it I need the fax machine.

Plus it has its advantages, the other day I was speaking to the tax man and he wanted me to fax part of my accounts and I had to go to a newsagents and pay £1 per sheet.
