WiiMC (Wii Media Centre) is an open source media player for the Nintendo Wii. Features include:

Ability to play virtually any video or audio format
DVD playback, with DVD menu support
Picture viewer
Music player
Online media support
SD, USB 2.0, SMB, HTTP, and FTP support
Attractive libwiigui-based interface, designed with the Wii in mind

I've had a quick play with it and it seems to play all my divx fine.

Nice one renke_uk!

Few questions, how would this actually handle 720p mkv files? I know the wii doesn't even do 720p video output but will it play the resolution downmixed somehow? Does it even play mkv's?

Had a quick look at their forums, but couldn't find a straight answer.

works really well, but now the kids have seen it MULAN is on and i cant playany other format stuff yet
controls are ok too but take a bit of playing with but not bad

I tried avatar.mkv and that played but very very choppy, but all my divx work fine and i really like the front end and forwarder.
Like you said DJ Overdose, the wii has very limited video capabilities compared to the xbox360 & ps3
But Great for the kids.

Roll on the Wii 2... With HD Capabilitie (Rumours!)
That'd be awesome if it can play MKV's natively. Would make my Revo redundant then though!

I like the Navi-X option.
Also plays all the DivX's from HDD so far and looks good as well.

Hi. I've installed the channel but it doesn't recognise any DVD's. Divx is ok though. Any idea why?

I've tried a few DVD's and out of the 5 I tried it failed to play 1. Like you say Divx is fine, do you have a hardmod fitted?

Version 1.0.2 has been released, with a huge number of big and small improvements alike! If you’re updating, be sure to go into Settings > Videos and change “Frame Dropping” to “Disabled” to improve video performance. If you have audio sync issues, try changing Frame Dropping to Auto.
