The next installment in the Call of Duty series (Call of Duty 7) is currently being developed by Treyrarch (who also developed Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War) and will be published by none other than Activision.
Today the game’s official website has gone live and with this occasion we found out that the game will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops. The same source says that the Call of Duty: Black Ops release date is November 9th, 2010.

Back in May 2009 That VideoGame Blog’s sources revealed that Activision was looking to license some Vietnam-era music to be used in the next game developed by Treyrarch. This of course led to speculation that Call of Duty 7’s action will take place in Vietnam.
The rumor gained strength in February when a Call of Duty casting call mentioned that four actors are needed to provide voice-overs, facial capture and body motion for the game. The call also gave some background on the characters: Frank Barnes – a part of an elite Vietnam unit, Joseph Lewis – a physically fit black man in his 20s, Jason Hudson – a white man in his 30s with over 15 years of military experience, and Kristina Ivanova – a Russian born CIA operatice and martial arts expert.
The announcement of the Kristina Ivanova character also led to some speculation that, in Call of Duty 7, players will also see some action related to the Cold War theme.
The first trailer of the new Call of Duty game will debut later today on Game Trailers TV so stay tuned.
