new screen??

another problem peeps...

advent laptop, one of those girly pink ones. when it is first turned on the screen image is fine after a minute or two it gets a few very thin lines across it, very quickly the lines get greater in number and eventually the screen whites out, if i push on the screen the image returns, also if i put the computer to sleep and wake it up the image is fine but after a minute or two it returns to the lines and whites out again! im sure its not the graphics card so do you guys rekon its time for a new screen!!!???

Is the fault on a external monitor ? white / lines?

Intermittent lines and movement of the lcd affects the issue sounds like a loose lcd cable either on back of the screen or the connector too the board try re-seating them firmly.

As totallyrandom said connect to via VGA to a monitor to rule out the GPU/mobo. It could be the LCD. It won't be the inverter as you always seem to have a backlight.

I would have said loose cable if external monitor is fine, usually very easy to check this, unscrew the screen bezel then unscrew the LCD brackets form the top cover and there should be a 30 pin connector on the rear of the LCD. Unplug it, plug it in again and get some sticky tape to hold the connector in place. Then test.

cheers guys! yeah always have light so figured it wasnt the inverter, as for the connectors ive already got the bezel off etc and checked the plugs into the inverter but completely forgot about the main one into the lcd! doh right well ill dig out some leads and see if i get the same problem vga!!

Also it may be worth checking the LCD connector on the mobo (if the LCD one does not resolve). I know a common problem on the L300/L350 Toshiba series was the LCD cable would become loose on the mobo end. All you have to do is resit and tape it.

cheers m8, right well after i found a vga lead and attached it to the laptop and tv i sat and waited for the white lines, and sat.... and sat but they didnt arrive, i turned it off, on, off, on still all fine i even resorted to giving it a little shake!! but its was fine i have had it running with the occasional turn off turn on since my last post and its currently sat there with no problems so I THINK its all better now!! i hope so it has to goto dubai with my niece and she will be buggered if it fails while she is out there!!!
