Look what arrived this morning:
UMD's of MLB 06 the show and 08 the show, pre-production builds for test sampling only. Rare to find on this side of the atlantic, even rare to find these

Aye. But do you have any framed UMDs or other format titles on plaques?
Why would I mount them? Trash the value entirely.
Many like this... although most of mine are packed away nowadays. It did the wife's head in!!
Oh, I've never seen any like that ever. Do you work in partnership with SCEE or somthing?
I used to receive one of these for every game I helped develop (Design and Produce in my case). Now gathering dust in the loft - ready to show off to my neice and nephew when they grow up. For them, it will be like us looking back at a Spectrum tape in a glass box. lol
lol nice. I now need to source one of these for my collection, I'm yet to see any at all.
What you have there is what is dished out amount the dev team on a frequent basis. They are quite rare in public circles but exist in many numbers elsewhere.
Looks like those UMDs were leaked, dropped or nicked from SCEA San Diego, QA or another group within SCEE dealing with carrying the title over to Europe. It's also possible that it came from a Press member as sometime these can be sent out as early review code.
Now if you had a UMD or other official media of a canned title, I would be quite impressed. Damn, I've seen quite a few that never appeared or will be spoken about outside of the industry. It's bloody hard work making games!
Many companies will not even dish these sorts of plaques out to staff so I suppose they are extra rare. I used to have mine on the wall above the stairway as you walked down untill, like I mentioned, the wife just got bored of them! I have quite a few bits of custom marketing material also, invluding a few t-shirts, badges, etc. Should be worth something in many years to come.
One game I worked on we put in hidden easter eggs - which unlocked some wierd cut scenes that messed around with gravity and one even let you play a frogger type game with objects and characters from the game! To this day that code has been kept secret. ;-)

Thanks for that info. SCEE generally didn't deal with this, due to it being only released in NTSC and NTSC-J. MLB was made by SCEA San Diego so they probably did get taken from there.
Europe would of been sent some copies to check out so it could be from here also. Like you say, most likely to be state-side.
E3 in a few days which I kind of miss attending but it is a case of 'been there, done that'!
Well I did get them from a guy out in Indiana, so these arn't the europe copies. E3 will be amazing, I will head there one of these years, I've got ways of getting in . Some of the swag you guys get...
Cool I guess, that its rare at least.
Didnt you post something similar about a DS cart a while back? Are those your only 2 rare things, if not what else you got?
Spennyboy, I have those UMD's, a DS Download cart, in the process of getting some more UMD's. I also just bought a very first gen iPod. (I know its not video game related but they're really hard to get ahold of now and sell for a fair bit ). I also have a boxed Gameboy Camera + Gameboy Printer with paper. Uhhh, Think thats it at the moment, I'm slowly building my collection
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'd like to share some I found myself in various places. Here goes
Games
Movies and Music
I'm interested in both, there's no unique serials on the movie/music ones, but it's obvious they're not same as retail, maybe only in version, byte for byte they're probably different. Like a game pre-prod never match retail game byte for byte (Unlike the promos in red slicks)
I'm trying to archive as much information as I can, and in doing this I try to collect the UMD's but after a while it gets expensive Oh well. Gotta keep working on it.
@The guy with the UMD's on plaques, congratulations, you really got some nice pieces of psp history I'm jealous
Here, I'll throw in another to see if anyone's reading the thread
Korean network UMD's (It's the best picture I have, sorry)
In terms of rare, you won't see them out of asia I'm pretty certain
Enjoy, more coming if the interest is there
stop being a bitch cooleo, just cause you want his collection lol
