If you already have the HBC installed, the process should be very quick.
You'll need a USB loader (I use Configurable USB Loader), the relevant cios and IOS' (difficult to tell you which ones, as it will depend what you already have installed) and then a program to transfer the wii disc images onto the HDD (I use ncwbfstool)
It's so worth the effort of doing.
ditto on what Ganty says, once it's setup it's a doddle to copy on to the disc new games and much easier than messing about with discs, I currently have a 500gb passport drive which works a treat
Cheers guys I have couple of drives to try will give it a go :-)

do the iso's still need scrubbing (the updates and regions taking off)?
USB Loaders remove the update partition when games are copied to the HDD, so you shouldn't have any hassles playing games from HDD.
can you still install the loader to the wii and still have covers or no (got it working from the sd/usb driver combo at the mo?)
If you have a WBFS partitioned drive then it's easier to run the USB Loader from the SD Card.
If you have a FAT32 partitioned drive then you can run your USB Loader from either, same goes for the covers.
A good channel forwarder will look to the SD card first for the loader then the HDD.
i wanted to have it as a channel on the wii is this not possable (think it will be easier for people in my house thicker then me )
Yeah use a channel forwarder, it's quite easy - just install with wad manager
what USB loader you using?
look for wiiflow loader, its available as a channel, just install that with wad manager, plug in your hdd and away you go. You can then either rip games off disk in your wii, or plug the hdd into your pc and send games to it using wiibackupmanager. removal off garbage data is all automatic, it couldn't be easier really.
Don't forget too that only one of the USB ports on the rear of the Wii will actually work with USB drives (The right one I think when viewed from the rear).
just incase . i had to change cfg usb loader to use ios 246, default was m-load
and it ironicly made fuck all load.
I used GL usb loader (had to leave a Sd card in for the covers ) but i have it installed as a channel and it works really well thanks guys
Is it worth swapping to wiiflow loader now i have it working if i could get it all to run from the usb drive would be cool
