Why do I keep coming back?

Was just thinking, no matter how long I leave DF for, I ALWAYS end up coming back. Years ago, I disappeared for a good year or so, then came back, posting in virtually every thread in the console sections, trying to help folk out (even won DF most helpful member 2007 ).

Then in Oct 2008, when I got my new car, I fucked off again, spending all my time on other forums (all car related), however this time I did occasionally pop by. Now I'm back in the swing of things again! hehe

Anyone else find that they keep coming back to DF if they leave it. With the other forums I can happily leave and not bother with them again, but something about DF just keep pulling me back.

Hands down THE BEST forum I've ever been a member of.

Will try not to leave again.....until I get a new toy.

When I left the UK to come to Cyprus in August 2007, I didn't visit DF for about a year. I was too busy getting on with my new life. Once things settled though, I slowly found myself coming back more often and becoming as active as I used to be when I was back in the UK. DF is the dogs bollocks and the people who run it are the mutts nutts.

I've had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the admins/smods/mods at two DF Blackpool bashes as well as some other top members. However I don't feel the feeling is mutual since I was absolutely off my fucking tits on both occasions...just ask Marcode

I've only been here 2 years or so, but I honestly think the longest I've been away is a week, it's my homepage on my pc, tapatalk is probably the most used app on my iPhone to see what's happening on DF

It is the only forum I check daily ok a few times a cay even when Im on bloody holiday I check in a few times.

Depending what I'm doing at the time I use a few others some daily some more often but never for a few months untill I am looking for information. I probably don't use that much of this place, just readignt he shite posted by leo, CJ and a few others. I have met a few people off here and they seemed pretty normal.

I'm going to read my join date and post count when this is posted cos I haven't a clue. I was born in '88 so I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to work out how young I was on whatever the date turns out to be.

I've left a few times too, but DF always still has a place. It's nice to get shorter discussions on news articles with people you can get to know a bit, and it's a great source for random internet funnies and things to see. I do think the techie support and geek discussion has gone off the rails a bit lately though, but the other parts of the board have improved to make up for it.

Things like DF and IRC are basically the old Facebook and Twitter, and the proper internet with proper websites was the first time it could go properly mainstream since most people couldn't be arsed dialling up a 800baud modem to a BBS. The celebrities have found it and it's become the internet revolution now apparently, which I find more than a bit odd given how long it's been going on for. We're at least into the second decade of pretty much everyone I know being online a fair bit and using it for socialising anyway, and at at least the 15 year mark for pretty much all geeks doing that.

Edit: Age 15, bloody hell. No wonder I wound up 4me2 so much when I was new.

I was 14 when I joined. Well actually, I had been on DF since 2000 or so, before $ony shut it down, then came back once I realised it was back up & running, so actually been here since I was like 13, now I'm 23, fuck me! 10 years of my life spent on this site. Well, prob more like 7 or 8 seeing as I've left a couple of times. Still a fair time tho.

Been on here all throughout my standard grades (GCSE's), Highers (A-Levels), Uni & now my working life, crazy, eh! Have learnt SO much, and have probably forgotten just as much too.

I've only been on here since 2007 and already racked up 6k. I'm certain i've not had anything useful to say. I blame the days when Boyakasa (or something like that) and Freddy used to talk about rimming gnomes.
