It's still invite only m8 but they have now introduced a new one where you dont need an invite but you only get 20 hours of streaming a month. Give that one a try It's called spotify open, here you go http://www.spotify.com/uk/get-spotify/open/

    Spotify is so last year.

    http://listen.grooveshark.com

Web based, much much more reliable and easy to use anywhere with no accounts or fannying around. It's cheaper to buy a premium membership too, but it's free to use with less intrusive adverts.

Cheers, trying Grooveshark now. Tried the free version of spotify but won't let me use it on my iPhone, says I need a premium accout.

The main thing I like about Grooveshark is that it actually works, so often Spotify would fail to work at peak times whilst I could stream the same song + video on YouTube with no issues which is clearly a massive Spotify failure.

I think Grooveshark allows anyone to put in MP3s and then pays for licensees retroactively so it's sort of better designed in terms of being cheap to run than Spotify. The lack of needing to install software is great too, and their web interface does most things that Spotify does once you've figured it out, although it is definitely not as intuitive at first.

It was always a when rather than an if for an improved version of Spotify, and I'm glad the people who have done it have done such a good job with Grooveshark.
