Default New GT 5 Trailer Shows Off Damage/Visual Effects

New GT 5 Trailer Shows Off Damage/Visual Effects

Here's a quick look at some of the visual effects being used in Gran Tursimo 5, which comes out for the PlayStation 3 this November. For those squemish about scratched paint, please look away now...
Check out this trailer showcasing the game's new damage, night/day transition, working headlights, cockpit view, and more for some of the game's standard cars. If this is how good the standard cars look, we can't imagine how gorgeous the fully rendered premium ones look.

I buy racing games, don't play them a great deal, they end up gathering a lot of dust on the shelf but fuck that looks like a pile on the shelf topper, yummy yummy yummy, another 30 quid down the drain.

To me that doesn't actually show a lot of damage (maybe once). I love GT but I'm getting to the stage where it has to show me something special - I want proper damage (ala Destruction Derby) and I want to see what the "experience" is whilst you're playing. Much of that is replay shots. As a driving sim, it probably is bloody amazing but I'm not that excited yet.

The PS3 is desperately lacking a proper realistic racing game. This is going to be the dogs bollocks and it's a definite purchase for me. I think this is a game a lot of DF's PS3 owners will come together and play a lot online...together.
