    Rant Fucking scammers!

Right, been out since about 9:30am until now cleaning my car (yes, you might call me anal, but damn it's worth it! ), and got dragged away 3 fucking times by the phone ringing, only for it to die when I picked it up, or just as I got to the phone.

Every time it was an International/Unknown number, but eventually they called back again, this time I managed to get to the phone before the fuckers hung up. Was some guy who I could hardly hear and claimed his name was "Mark" (if he's called Mark, then I'm the emporer of Japan!!). Anyway, the c*nt proceeded to ask if I was the main computer user in the house, to which I said I was. Then he went on to say he believes my PC has a problem and would like to remote in to fix it.

I asked him how does he know there is a problem, to which he said "it came up on our system", then I asked, what "system" is this, to which he could not really give an answer and asked again if he could remote in. Then I asked him what this "problem" was and he said it was a "bug" that was causing the computer to run "slow" (which is most definately does not!). I knew from the word go this was a fucking scam, and I have read about it before, but thought I would try to catch him out.

Eventually got bored and wanted to get back to what I was doing and told him that I fucking work in IT and have a fucking degree in Electronic Engineering & Computer Science, so if there was a fucking problem, I would know about it, and figure out how to sort it myself. Then proceeded to tell him to not try and fucking scam me again or I will track him down and feed him his own testicle, then hung up.

These c*nts really fucking piss me off!!

Problem is, some people might fall for this. If my mum had answered she would have told him to fuck off because she knows that if there was a problem I would sort it and know about it, but my step-dad is VERY trusting and would have simply believed the c*nt and let him remote in.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll give my Mum a ring and tell her to watch out as she is pretty naive.

I have at least 3 calls per day but usually 5 or so. What takes the piss is a lot of these are on my BT talk BB line so BT have obviously sold my number on

Almost everytime they just hang up, apparently this is because their system calls several numbers at a time and if a call operator is not available when you answer it will auto-hang up. One yesterday I left to go to answering machine played me 'on hold' music and eventually hung up. Why the telecoms can't ban these calls is beyond me.

I used to have lots of unsolicited calls until I went here http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/, registered and within 28 days they stopped, not had any for 2 years now, also cuts down on junk mail as well.

Heard of a few of these and spoken to people that have fallen for them. Most of the ones I have dealt with claim to be Microsoft and say that they know there is a problem because the user has submitted an error report. I've had a few that have directed the user to the event viewer to show them all the errors that they have on their machine.

They then tend to remote into the pc (usually through logmein) with the users connect advise them that the errors are extreamely server and that they can only fix them if the machine has a warranty. They take the user to a page to provide them with payment (around £60-100) and then install software such as AVG, Malware Bytes, CCleaner (I have been unable to verify if these are from genuine sources or not) however I have advised users to remove them and install any of them they actually want from the genuine sites.

    All in all very scary

Already registered on the TPS, but that is only for UK companies. If they are phoning from India & the likes then TPS doesn't mean squat.

Or if you're called from a company like I used to work for where we used to rip a page out of the yellow pages at the start of each day

cheers for the heads up dude, never had one of these calls and have never actually heard of them, gonna tell my parents, sister, nan though even though they would always call me if their was a problem with their PC i know how pushy some of these fuckers can be so might get tricked into doing something (nan especially, god bless her!) it really does amaze me tho some of the scams they try and pull these days
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

This is true, as they are not ringing you personally and your number is simply one on a list then it is done by a computer basically. The best thing to do is answer then just hang up cos it will work through a list so basically it would probably take 6 months before it gets round to your number again (if at all) BT themselves do this with sales calls, the cunts!

Does piss me off that the likes of BT sell your number, how can they get away with this? The above works for me as I never use the landline for anything and everyone knows to only ring us on our mobiles so if you are expecting calls then your mum or dad might be a bit pissed off when you keep hanging up on her!

To be fair, how would anyone fall for this? Sure mums/dads/grandmas etc. may not be "up" on the current scamming world but would common sense not ring alarm bells when some randomer on the phone tells you there is an issue with a pc they have never seen???

You would think so, wouldn't you? However, some people are too trusting/nieve and/or they don't know anything about a computer apart from how to check e-mails and write letters in word, so if someone claiming to be from Microsoft calls and says there is a problem with their PC they will probably believe the scammers and think that M$ must have some special system in place that allows them to monitor what you do.

Hell, one of my mates claimed that when PS3 came out you would not be able to buy 2nd hand games, because each game would be "locked" to the first PS3 it was used on. I told him that was total and utter shite, but he kept banging on about it and saying folk from his work also said the same thing, but then who was right when PS3 came out? Me, because him & his work mates don't have a clue about these things, where as computers/consoles are and always have been what I do.

Goes to show, some people will believe anything you tell them.

LOL I couldn't give a shit to be honest - if people are gullible enough to fall for these scams they kind of deserve it imo

Is pretty much what I said to him.

Ps3 games were going to be locked at some point, but anyways.

Received a call from 01612732600, upon googling it, it appears to be a Orange 'contract' scam. Can't call it back and it's registered to a car company in Manchester. I'd just sorted out a new contract with Orange a few hours prior. Seems as though someone's sold my details on...
