Sony PS3 40gb, Faulty.

I recently bought a 40gb PS3 with a fautly drive.
The fault is that it wont read discs, other than this the unit is in excellent condition and works fine.
It comes fully boxed with 1 controller and leads.
My intention was to get it fixed and use it, this hasn't happened so i'm just looking to get back what i paid for it.

Can you confirm its 100% a faulty drive mate, and that's all that needs doing?
Do you know if its laser or actual drive?

Does it not read anything? CD/DVD/BR? Games? Films?

PS3 arrived today, am told it's fired up OK but won't read disks (as advertised).
