    Tech QuickBooks Remotely Query

    Hey guys,
    Its been a while.
I have one of my clients wishes to remotely access his Quickbooks Plus 2009-2010 database and run reports etc from home.
He has his laptop at work that runs the Quickbooks POS Terminal then runs it through Administrator.

He wants to be able to use the POS Administrator and Plus 09/10 at anytime from anywhere. He will have an accountant do this from his remote laptop or from anywhere else via HTTP (ideally).

Remote Desktop has been ruled out as then no one else would be able to run the POS in the shop at the sametime that he is remote desktop'd into the shop laptop.

I thought perhaps we have 3 options:
    1) Go with Quickbooks Online
    2) He VPNs into the shop and opens the QB db file from the program on the remote laptop
    3) Compress and FTP the QB db file to a server where the remote laptop user can download and open with their desired program.

Has anyone else done this before or any similar experiances?
Hope this makes sense! Its 11.15pm...
    Thanks in advance.

Is he only running a single user version of Quickbooks? If not then holding the data on a server (or another pc) and then using RDP would be the easiest and would mean that both users can be logged in at once and be using live data.

    Hi Hoponbaby
He has a single user license of QB Plus 09-10, POS Terminal, and POS Adminstrator.

I called Reckon Advantage as he has the subs for this and they recommended terminal services but they don't support it unless its the enterprise edition - which he doesn't need.
But I do like the idea of just installing a new windows PC on his LAN and installing QB on that, then RDP'ing into that new PC to access to open QB and open the QB company file so the shop laptop is not in use.

HHHHMmmmmmmmmm .... get my thinking cap on.

    Thanks
