Compaq Armada Power On Password?

Hi there,

A friend has brought home from work an old Compaq Armada 1700, however it has a Boot Password and we can't boot it to put a fresh windows install on it. Does anyone know if there is a way round it?

Usually a jumper, or something to clear them I think, but we don't have the manual, any help would be appreciated.

Scrap that, she's brought it here, just need to get into the bios to get it to boot off a floppy .. any ideas??

On the Compaqs (virtually all of them) it'll beep, then the cursor will blink on the right hand side. Press F10 to enter the BIOS settings while it flashes.

They've odd BIOS's. The software is held on the HDD in a partition. If you don't get the right hand side cursor, this partition is missing or duff, and you'll need to download the BIOS partition from the Compaq website and reinstall it from a floppy.

LOL ... the partition is missing and it won't boot from floppy goes straight to hard drive .. ;-(

Might have it sussed, have put the h/d in my laptop, building it in there then gonna swap it over & try to straighten it out there!
