    Default Using wireless broadband

    HI

If i buy a wireless broadband dongle, can i plug it into pc and get my pc working on it, and also plug a router into my pc to get a wifi enabled laptop to access it too?

Are these wireless dongles any good? Will web pages load up ok?

Some routers allow a mobile broadband dongle to be connected directly so it can broadcast the signal, although the transfer rates are very poor from my experience so this is a bit pointless. You would need strong 3G signal to have any decent speed.

You could connect a router to your PC to create a home network then share the internet connection with your network. If you plan on having this in your home though it would be advisable to get a standard broadband hook up, mobile broadband is very convenient when on the move but too unreliable for my liking to rely on at a fixed address. Then if you do travel occasionally you can get an unlocked dongle or PAYG plan.

From my experience not worth the hassle although as Evilsatan says it can be a backup if your net goes down as a fail over

Mine's been spot on. It was all the internet I had in our last house and worked a fine. It's dependant on network and a decent signal. I was getting a good solid 2Mb/s back then (2.5 years ago) and now I get closer to 6Mb on my mifi dongle
