I'm not 100% but you should be ok, if not use something like Calibre to convert them to a compatible format and then either sync them over with itunes or upload them to a dropbox account and grab them as you need

These are all in ipub format and can simply be imported direct into itunes then synched onto your idevice without the need for jailbreaking. I have my ipad 1 on latest firmware with these books on there and keeping my sane whilst offshore
