Would resetting Internet explored to default settings solve the issue?

Is it a laptop? Sounds like a hardware issue.

I'd start with reseating the keyboard connector cable.

Did you setup the keyboard during installing the o/s or was the problem there before?

Definitely sounds like a hardware fault mate or a virus. Boot to a livecd and see if typing is ok, if it is then you have a software issue.

Is it a laptop or desktop? USB or ps2 connection? Try another port or keyboard if possible.

the other day after i went to a ropey site my caps lock came on on its own and wouldn't go off, the ' sign was a @ and the numbers on the top row were the symbols instead, and the number pad didnt work. Couldn't get it to change back so rebooted and ran a couple of spyware checks. I only use google chrome or firefox and I had over 340 adwares on the pc, one of a "medium threat" and once they were gone and rebooted the keyboard worked fine again so try something similar maybe?

Right have tried another port still the same problem,Have also been reading about keyboard mapping faults

    • Click on Start >> Control Panel
    • Double click on System (may need to be in classic view)
    • Switch to the hardware tab
    • Click the device manager button
    • Expand the keyboard tree by clicking the + next to "Keyboards".
    • This should show all your keyboards install.
    • Double click on the appropriate one (possibly "HID Keyboard Device")
    • On this general tab check to see if it reports any errors.
    • Switch to the driver tab
    • Press the update driver button
    • Let the wizard automatically search for a driver for you.
    • If it finds one, close down all the windows and try Ben's screen again.
    • If this doesn't help - let us know.
Done this and still got same problem

Am now going out to get new keyboard,Its got to be the keyboard that is fucked

    Will report back

First try booting a LiveCD or just into safe mode as it could be a virus mate.
