I know I am probably going to get slated for asking this, but I am a total novice where speakers are concerned...
Thus, here is my predicament.
Firstly... I'm skint!
Secondly, I need to change a couple of my home theatre speakers and sub as at the last party we had they took quite a hammering.
Now, as per title. I've been hunting around eBay for a replacement Sub to live in my 'foot stool' type active sub. The markings on the Sub itself are -
IMP - 4Ω
NOM - 75W
In my AMP manual it doesn't state anything to do with the Sub Impedance - guessing this is because it's Active...?
It mentions the Front, Back, Surround, Surround Back and Centre at being -
90W+90W @ 8Ω or 125W+125W @ 6Ω
Now if I strip out my carcasses or my existing speakers... Can I add these into them?
SUB, Speakers (x6 - 4 + 2 for centre speaker) and Tweeters.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree and need to buy a £500 set of speakers for my Home Cinema? I dont really understand Impedance/OHM's/Wattage or Voltage and I'm not even sure the speakers I am using are good enough for my amp (it don't sound like it!). All I know is it's a mathematical equation I dont understand. Can someone put me straight?
Ideally, it seems as though I COULD if this works out, install my PIONEER speaker system at about £150!! Now that I can stretch too!
