Install IPA files from safari?

Hi all,

I know with a previous version of installous I had on my iPhone (this was pre-iOS4), I was able to install IPA files from within safari by just clicking on the links. However this doesn't seem to work anymore, with safari saying it cannot download the file? Am I missing something else I need to install now or is it just broken?

I don't have a great deal of experience but I am able to download about 50% of the files I click on filedude, the rest of the time I get "unexpected content" or it times out.

Have you added cydia.hackulo.us as a new source in cydia? (manage/sources).

Shouldn't really have tried to answer this, I've got little experience. I only download apps from within installous, and it goes through websites like mediafire & filedude. I set it to automatically install & delete the files.

thanks mate, but yeah have got it all setup correctly I think, installous works fine, I just can't get anything installed from safari (even ipa's on my lan).

I'd not thought about it m8 because I thought it was filedude etc that was having issues I have noticed the same though since the change to iOS4 where as before it was maybe 70-80% working first time now its more around the 40-50% mark

It's not really specific to filedude though, even when connecting to a http share on my LAN it won't download them

dont know if its any help
i have a program installed (ill dig out the name when i get home) that lets you drop the ipa files straight into the installous download folder
means you have to have them allready on your computer though

That's fine, the ipa i need is on my machine anyway. I'm trying to SCP it over at the moment but it's painfully slow. Just wish I knew why the install from safari thing is broken tbh, made life much easier.
