Help UPNP on XP - streaming client

Can anyone recommend software which I can use to stream movies from my NAS to my laptop?

The NAS is currently configured for upnp so that I can stream to the PS3.

For some strange reason, I can ping the NAS but I cant map any of the shared drives with the laptop, but I can from my desktop?!?!

    Both run XP Pro.

    Thanks

    J

Aswell as workgroup, check any firewall settings.

They are both in WORKGROUP and I dont have any type of domain set up.

There are 2 main differences that I can see:

    1) the desktop and NAS are both cabled via the same netgear hub and the d/top can see the NAS by its name (i.e. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) and IP address (mapped shares). The laptop is wireless so it could be that there is a setting on the wireless router which is stopping it !?

    2) the desktop uses NAV and the laptop uses AVG (although I think im grabbing at straws here)

Im going to cable the laptop to the hub and see if that work, then I will know it is the wireless config. Could be that the hub has a cache and routes the traffic internally without sending it to the wireless router.

Ok so I cabled the laptop and it sees the NAS but asks for authentication. Strange as I do not run a domain or workgroup...

    Any more thoughts?

Does you laptop require a login password , if so create an account that doesn't and try that
