Lost Contacts

Hi Guys,
I have an iphone 4 that is jailbroke and unlocked, I previously had an iphone 3g.
Now my iphone 3g crashed and needed to be restored to factory settings so I lost everything.

I got my new iphone 4 but am unable to restore it from an old back up as the drive it is on is for a Mac and I cannot read it on my laptop and my Mac is being repaired.

Once I get the Mac back can I then do a restore of my old phone, even though the new one is on 4.0.1 and the old one was 3.1.2 or something.

Or can I open up the backup file and take out the numbers as this is all I need.

You always have the option of Transmac to read the Mac drive in your PC.

Grab the backup and restore with it.
