    Photos Atomic

Another one from my shoot with Amie last week. This one I felt was crying out for a black & white conversion. The light behind her is from a studio strobe with no head on it at all, just wanted to have a nice glow in her hair with it.

marked with spoiler tag, should be SFW, but just incase

    Spoiler:

    2nd pic added.

    Spoiler:

    3rd pic [nsfw!]

    Spoiler:

    C&C Appreciated.

    Thanks

I think the black and white works well with the light behind. It takes your eyes off the chest

Thanks mate, yes, it does (along with those eyes) tend to drag your attention up to the top of the image doesn't it.

Lovely shot Carl. Love the backlighting. My only crit is her right fore-arm, the hairs are a bit distracting. Can you shop them out or lighten them a bit?

Yeah I did think about that, but tbh, it went against my 5 minute post-pro rule (i.e if I have to spend more than 5 mins on something, it wasn't good enough to start with). I see what you mean though, but was hoping people would be drawn to other parts of the image and not the arms

I like that rule, primarily for the things it implies about good photography, however 5 minutes pp would just about get me to curves and levels.

Nice one matey. I like the lighting in general and the back light works well for me. I follow a similar rule with post pro but it is up round half an hour. I am joking as if there is too much follow up work needed to sort something I usually bin it. It is surprising how much I can achieve in five minutes though.

tbh, it's as much to do with my inability to do anything other than a curves, levels and contrast tweak as well This is a combo of all those 3 and then I used a gradient mask for the mono conversion. I'd end up doing it all in lightroom tbh if I had the ability to add my little watermark and a border how I like it.

Aye Lightroom 3 is a beauty but I cannot drive it as well as PS to be honest. I keep downloading eBooks but I have no time to read them in reality. I have issues with using the Curves tool for some reason, I always overcook or fuck my images up using it.

Stunning mate. A very natural pleasant pose and excellent processing. The style of mono you have here is perfect.

Thanks Ian. I don't know what it is but they all just seemed to work so much better in mono, I can't even remember what technique I used for the mono conversion, it was a mix of the b+w filter and adding a gradient map.
