ELITE 4?????

hey guys, dont kno how many old elite nuts r on here but i just found a version thats been made to run on the pc with all new grafix etc...This game is THE GAME that got me into computing when i first saw it run on the old BBC micro way back.

Elite was indeed kickass, but I always preferred Starglider II myself, although frontier was pretty good.

Sentinel though, that was frikin awesome, a true old-skool classic.

IIRC Braben rushed it out (possibly under pressure from the publisher) and it was one of the buggiest games ever released. I think some missions couldn't even be deleted.

I think Eve is the modern day equivalent of Elite but I've never been able to get into it because it looks like WoW where you need to devote your life to it. It is perfectly acceptable to rob people and kill them for fun though which is cool.

I always remember the cheat on the speccy version where you could leave a space station do a vertical 180 degree turn so you were facing the space station again and go into hyperspace. When you came out of hyperspace you would be immediately docking at your destination. Came in handy at the beginning of the game before you could afford the auto docking system.

Hardwar was awesome, remember having enough money to buy a shop, game had crashed tho and hadnt rolled onto 2nd mission so couldnt complete it

We had Elite on the BBC at school, then I had Frontier on my Amiga1200. The only game I think I spent more time on is WoW.
