Maybe I should have posted on here beforehand to see if anyone else was going, but today I attended the R3Play exhibition at the Norbreck Hotel, Blackpool, and it was utterly superb. Got to play on some machines I never thought I would again, such as a Gorgar pinball and a Star Wars machine, and I also got to have a chat with games programming legend Jeff Minter.
Can't wait till next years event.
One downside of the day was when I saw a Donkey Kong competition with a £100 prize, which given my world ranking of 23rd, I figured they might as well hand me the prize now....not so....completely fell apart under the pressure, and scored a massive 900 points on my first life (only one attempt was allowed, so couldnt abandon and start again)..ended up with a pitiful 109k, which is a score that I would normaly consider aborting if I didnt make on my first life, never mind after all 4. Downright awful. Gutted about that.
