Can you do anything with it other than play demo's or use it as a media player?

Can it be used in conjunction with certain usb devices or is it nothing more than a shiney paper weight?

as long as it's on 3.41 or below you can jailbreak it and run games from a hdd but some games will need a disc in the drive to boot

if it's above 3.41 then all you can do is use it as a media player and for playing demos

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate we can't delve into too much detail.

Are you confident that it isn't just a media centre / demo box if the logic board is missing, I've seen a couple of posts this evening that seem to think that it won't do much.

IIf I'm wrong and you or any of the other members have one running with no logic board then cool, I'm just curious as I can lay my hands on one cheap!

AFAIK it will boot without a logic board but it will not execute signed code. This includes anything off the PSN store. You will just get a blank screen on startup. I don't know if the jailbreak will circumvent that or not.
