Help Lifted barrier and drove off without paying

I tried to pay for ncp parking but it wouldnt accept visa electron, i only had £8 in the bank so not like i could take 10 out at a cash machine.

My son was screaming and it was cold and he needed his inhaler as he suffers with respiraty problems so i paniced and tried to get a new ticket but wouldnt let me saying i needed to be in a vehicle. So i just lifted the barrier up and drove off.

The entrance/exits where covered in cctv which looked like anpr. What should i expect now? A police pull - im 150 miles from the ncp car park or will they send a letter? Ill pay the £3 odd, just the circumstances at the time

I'd contact the NCP carpark in question and explain the situation,at least when the letter(if you get one!),you'll be one step ahead and try and sort out some sort of payment/settlement early.

    Good advice Sanj,

I'd do the same, just email or contact NCP and explain the situation.

Yeah as long as you contact them I'd guess no harm done.

Probably would have been better to speak to the parking people at the time but I'm sure they'll understand you panicked over the inhaler situation.

Also probably time to take a look at yourself if you are venturing out for the day with a child with medical problems with only £8 to your name. If I say that I'll get abuse from other poor people though. Everything we post in this section is anonymous isn't it?

But they are CCTV cameras and your reg will be in plain view. It doesn't need ANPR, just a geezer with decent eyesight and a pen...

    Yes thats what I thought!

NCP like many parking companies have a link to DVLA to obtain the vehicle registered keepers details.

However this is a civil issue on private land.

So long as you didn't damage the barrier you can tell them to get lost no matter what official document they send to you through the post.

    Just ignore them.

NCP has never won a Civil parking claim in its history and now only sends a series of standard letters spanning six months.

No matter where the letters come from or what they threaten.

You will never be taken to Court and it will not affect your credit rating despite what their agents threaten.
